An Explanation and Some FAQ’S

Lissa Del is a pseudonym used for my contemporary fiction (romantic suspense, women’s fiction and general fiction)

I write under two broad genres:

SPECULATIVE FICTION (aka fanstasy, dystopian, science fiction, etc) such as The Legacy Trilogy, Guardians of Summerfeld Series, The Traveler, The Clock Keeper, etc) and,

CONTEMPORARY FICTION (aka women’s fiction or romantic suspense) such as Rainfall & my Name is Simon.

Some readers prefer to know what they are getting. For example, if you grab a copy of the latest Marian Keyes off the shelf and find yourself reading a courtroom drama, you’re going to feel cheated. It’s not what you were expecting. I have a range of contemporary books (along the lines of Rainfall and MNIS) which will be coming out over the next few years and I want people to know exactly what to expect from me so they will be published under the pen name: Lissa Del.

I know many people are wondering why, after YEARS of building a recognisable brand, I would do this, so I thought I’d give you the 411 and answer a few questions I’ve been asked throughout the process:

WHY LISSA DEL?

This name was suggested to me by my publisher when she first signed Rainfall. Initially, I baulked at the name and the idea of a pseudonym, but over the past year it has grown on me and I think it suits the genre perfectly. It is also close enough to my real name that I don’t feel I’m creating a whole new persona!

IS IT A SECRET THAT MELISSA DELPORT & LISSA DEL ARE THE SAME AUTHOR?

Not at all. The purpose of the pseudonym is simply so that the reader knows which style of my writing they will be getting. The Legacy, Gos. Traveler, Clock Keeper fans will prefer Melissa Delport books. The Rainfall readers will lean toward Lissa Del. Those who love both are my favourite people in the world 🙂

WILL RAINFALL BE REPUBLISHED UNDER THE LISSA DEL BRAND?

No. Rainfall is still my bestselling book and I do not want to confuse readers who have had it recommended and then cannot find it because the author name has changed. Rainfall and MNIS will, for the time being, remain under the Melissa Delport umbrella.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM LISSA DEL?

I am aiming to release one contemporary fiction novel per year. These are romantic suspense, women’s fiction, and general fiction novels that will have a strong romantic theme. If you enjoyed Rainfall, Lissa Del is your girl 🙂

There will not be a new website, but Lissa Del has her own Facebook page and separate newsletter. WHAT IS THE REAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LISSA DEL AND MELISSA DELPORT?

Melissa Delport has 3 children and loves Reed.

Lissa Del is single and still dreams of Adam.
